Device Manager Errors: Unknown Device with ACPI MSFT0101 Hardware ID

Understanding the Issue

When using Windows 7, you may encounter unknown devices in the Other Devices section of Device Manager. These devices may have the ACPI MSFT0101 hardware ID, indicating a problem with the Security Chip TPM setting.

Resolving the Error

To resolve this error, follow these steps:

1. Open the Device Manager.
2. Expand the "Other Devices" section.
3. Right-click on the unknown device and select "Properties."
4. In the "Details" tab, select "Hardware Ids" from the drop-down menu.
5. Check if the hardware ID is "ACPI MSFT0101." If it is, proceed to the next step.
6. Go to the "Power Management" tab.
7. Uncheck the "Allow this device to wake the computer" option.
8. Click "OK" to save your changes.

Additional Information

Intel is currently removing non-inclusive language from its documentation. If your device's hardware ID is less than 20, it does not meet the Windows 11 requirements.
